North Carolina Beach Trip

April 07, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

My husband and I moved to Eastern North Carolina not too long ago and of course I am so excited that I have a whole new area of beaches to explore. On a recent 85 degree day I packed up my camera and headed over to Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle. I discovered that the area is called the Crystal Coast and I see why. The beaches are absolutely gorgeous and the water is crystal clear. It is a very different coastline compared to New England. The weather was perfect and I was able to capture tons of great shots! I love exploring our new home and have other beaches on my list to check out, but I definitely plan to return.

Christmas Morning Photo Tips

December 18, 2015  •  Leave a Comment

Christmas morning is lots of fun and we all want to capture those special moments. Make your holiday pictures a snap with these reminders.

  1. Charge, charge, charge! Whether you're using your phone, iPad, digital camera, or DSLR…don't forget to charge it up ahead of time.
  2. Also don't forget the memory card. You want to make sure it's in the camera and there's lots of space free. I usually put it in the camera the night before I use it , clear old photos, and snap a couple of practice shots to make sure the card is working okay. They can act up sometimes!
  3. Open the curtains and shades. You want to let in as much natural light as you can.
  4. And speaking of lights, turn on the tree lights and any other lit decor when you wake up.
  5. Take a couple of shots of the room before all the ripping and tearing begins. I have lots of photos from my childhood of the living room before we opened the gifts and those are just as fun to look at. Get the stockings too. :)
  6. If you can, try to get a couple of the kids in front of the tree in their pi's before they open the gifts, it'll be much easier than trying to round them up after they open them and they are playing.
  7. Last, but in my opinion most importantly, live in the moment! We all love candid shots but do you want to experience the look on your child's face behind a device? Capture the memories but also be present and enjoy this special time with your family.  Wait til later or tomorrow to post to your social media.

Happy Holidays to All!

I love taking photos and one thing I love more than that is looking at photos. I had so much fun capturing family memories for the holidays this year, and I LOVED receiving holiday cards in the mail and seeing how people used my photos. I am so fortunate that I am able to share my love for photography with everyone and I look forward to all the photo ventures of 2015! Take a look at some family fun of the 2014 holiday season!

JOY

There are many things that I adore about photography, but I have to say one of the best things about it is the joy I get to see at every shoot. It is an honor to share and capture these special moments in people's lives. Many times they bring tears to my eyes.  Hopeful grads, seniors, babies, parents, families, couples, bridal parties, brides, grooms….all on wonderful journeys! I am surrounded by pure happiness. It is an amazing feeling to get an inside look at all of these important milestones. Here is a sampling of some of these joyous moments!

The look on a groom's face as he sees his bride coming down the aisle.

Seniors on their way to the prom

Nurses as proud as can be on their pinning day after all their hard work and dedication ~ their new career path begins!

Senior Pictures at the Beach

May 08, 2014  •  1 Comment

I've spent countless days on the beach with this pretty girl over the last 18 years. So of course it was the perfect setting for her senior pictures. It was a little difficult to decide where to shoot, since we have so many great beaches in the area. We decided on Horseneck Beach in Westport, as it has sentimental value. The weather was amazing and we had a lot of fun. The photos truly capture her inner and outer beauty.
