I love to share my photography adventures with all of you, check back often!
I love, love that I'm able to capture important milestones in people's lives. Expecting a baby is one of those special times. I love the anticipation and excitement of a maternity session with an expectant couple. When my close friends and parents-to-be asked me to take their maternity photos in the Raleigh area, I jumped at the chance and had just the place in mind. The JC Raulston Arboretum is the perfect location for any type of portrait session. I had been there to take photos before and was very excited to go back. The weather was perfect, mom-to-be was glowing, and we were all ready for a perfect session. No matter who I'm working with, I always feel nervous and it was really important to me to make this session a great one. Everything felt very natural and relaxed. We had a wonderful time wandering around, looking for pretty spots, and watching everyone out and about enjoying the gardens. I can't wait to meet this little baby boy! Congrats!

For the first time ever I'm offering a special mini session rate just for TEACHERS when you book in the month of May! I am super excited to honor these hard working professionals that have been dealing with very trying times over these last 2 years. You are appreciated and loved by your students, parents, and community more than you will ever know. As a former teacher, I truly understand the pressures teachers face and honestly cannot even grasp how difficult is has been to teach during a pandemic.
I know how much teachers sacrifice. To show my appreciation for the teachers in our community I am offering this special:
On location mini session
$30 ($90 value!!)
20 minutes
15-20 digital images with printing rights
** Session needs to be booked during the month of May, but can be scheduled during May or at a later date

Several months ago I needed to update my professional photos, so I reached out to my friend and fellow photographer, Lia to set up a session. We had a fun afternoon Uptown Greenville and I've been using the photos often for different projects and posts. Today I got to take Lia's branding photos for her website, social media, and professional use. We met in her town, Kinston, NC. We started off at an adorable coffee shop, Middle Grounds. We lucked out, as it wasn't too busy at the time and took some fun, creative shots. Then we wandered down the street to a mural and a couple of brick alley spots. It was a lot of fun! As photographers we are always behind the lens and don't often get in front of it.
We both learned some lessons from these sessions. Getting in front of the camera is not easy! It can be awkward. We had a conversation about how we both now better understand how our clients feel when we are having them pose. It usually takes a little time for people to warm up and get comfortable being photographed. Having our photos taken gave us both a better appreciation for what posing and following direction feels like. We agreed that this experience will help us to be even better photographers. Check out a few of my faves that I took of Lia!

I found this little gem of a place in Greenville, NC and jumped at the opportunity to hold a mini session event there during tulip season. Raising Grayce Farm is an adorable pick-your-own flower farm. It's in the owner's backyard and they are kind enough to allow photography on their property. I had been looking to do something like this, and the nearest tulip farm I could find was in the Raleigh area. So I was super excited to find something local! Tulips are one of my favorite Spring flowers, I knew the photos would be beautiful. About a week before my event, I visited the farm with my parents. We had a great time walking around and checking out all the different kinds of flowers. We met the farm cat, chickens, and cows as well. We cut some flowers to take home and the visit got me even more excited for my minis.
The day of the mini sessions was pretty, sunny, and warm....but it was a little windy at the farm. Everyone looked great and had fun despite the wind! I thoroughly enjoyed it and am looking forward to doing more floral sessions there. Sunflowers and zinnias are next, so be on the lookout for booking information! Full sessions are offered as well. So if you are looking for a unique location for your Spring photo session, let me know!

It seems like the cold temps are behind us for good and I'm so excited for all of my upcoming photo sessions! There are so many reasons why Spring is the perfect time for your photo session.
